What brings you here?
Choose an example to prepare for your visit—not to determine which treatment you need.
Choose a comfortable approach
Needle-free auricular care gives you another way to explore ear-focused treatment. Dr. Kari explains the method and sensations before you begin.
“Can we use a needle-free approach for my session?”
Ear-focused does not mean universal
An approach limited to the ear may appeal to you, but the decision still depends on your goal and ear health. A traditional map cannot confirm the cause of a symptom elsewhere.
“What evidence relates this ear technique to my particular concern?”
Bring up local irritation
Mention piercings, hearing devices, eczema, metal reactions, and adhesive allergies. Those details may change the method or make another service a better option.
“Would anything be left on my ear, and how would I care for it?”
What auricular therapy means
Auricular therapy focuses on selected points on the outer ear. At Suncoast, Dr. Kari offers approaches with and without needles, choosing the method around your health history, treatment goals, and comfort preferences.
How it is understood
Traditional systems map areas of the ear to the body. The outer ear also has sensory nerve connections, which are one area of scientific interest. A traditional ear map is not a proven diagnostic chart, and touching a tender point does not establish disease in a corresponding organ.
What it may be used alongside
People may explore ear-focused therapy as a complementary approach to comfort or a quieter treatment experience. Findings for one ear technique or one condition do not transfer automatically to every auricular method. Ask for evidence that matches the proposed technique and your goal.
Safety and suitability
Mention pregnancy, bleeding risks, metal or adhesive allergies, eczema, and ear infections. Needles can cause pain, bleeding, or infection; pressure and adhesives can irritate skin. Increasing redness, swelling, discharge, or persistent pain warrants advice.
Planning your visit & more details
If you prefer fewer body needles
An ear-focused session may be worth discussing if clothing access or full-body needling is a concern. Needle-free does not mean sensation-free or suitable for everyone. Pressure, adhesives, or electrical stimulation have different practical considerations.
What your visit involves
Dr. Kari reviews your history, examines the outer ear, and explains the chosen method. Tell her about piercings, hearing devices, skin irritation, or recent ear problems. Your session includes any aftercare instructions you need.
Care after your visit
Dr. Kari explains any care needed after your session. If your treatment includes an item that stays on the ear, you receive instructions for its use, care, and removal. Follow those directions and contact us if the area becomes irritated.
A personal care plan
Together, we choose a practical goal and a time to review your response. Dr. Kari explains how auricular therapy fits with your acupuncture or other care. Ear-focused treatment complements appropriate medical care and does not diagnose nutritional deficiencies.
Your questions, answered.
Does auricular therapy mean full-body acupuncture?
It is a distinct approach focused on the ear. Dr. Kari explains how it fits within your care plan.
Can I request no needles?
Yes. Tell Dr. Kari you prefer needle-free care so she can explain the approach and assess whether it suits you.
